Grant E. Matthews

Grant E. Matthews, husband of Charlotte (Tillman), son of the late Walter and Edith Matthews, passed away on Monday, February 8th at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. I addition to his loving wife, companion, and friend of 58 years, he is survived by his children, Bruce and Lynn, and her husband, Paul, of Stratford. Grant was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Walter, and his sister Jean. He is survived by his sisters, Vera and Patricia. He is also survived by eight grandchildren who he loved dearly-Harrison, Madison, Andrew, Brooks, Mikenzie, Clayton, Parker and William. Grant was a member of the Connecticut Air National Guard from 1954 until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the Trumbull Civitan from 1971 until 2008. During his years with this community service organization, he served three terms as president and many years as secretary. A Memorial Service at Christ Episcopal Church, 2000 Main Street, Stratford will be held on Thursday, February 18th at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment of his ashes in Lawncroft Cemetery, Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made top Christ Episcopal Church or the CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
