Helen E. Watson was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world suddenly on February 18, 2022 at the age of 87. While all of us will miss her dearly, we know she is reunited with the love of her life, her husband, the late Albert J. Watson.
Helen was born in Bridgeport to John and Helen Collins Waterbury and has lived in Easton, Connecticut since 1972. Helen worked in the administrative offices of Sikorsky Aircraft and had many fond memories of working for Igor Sikorsky. She left the workforce to raise and care for her three sons (Albert, Mark and Dean), who were the other three loves of her life. Once her children grew up, Helen went from managing a household to managing stores. She was a manager at Aspetuck Orchards in Easton, Edwards Supermarket in Fairfield (formerly First National Supermarket), and eventually Shaw’s where she made some lifelong friends, such as her best friend, Vivian Munley who she spoke to every day. Helen also served as the Vice President of the Easton Swimming Association.
Helen’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She loved shopping and cooking with them but most of all, she loved talking to them. Helen was an avid Yankee’s fan who loved watching Derek Jeter play. Helen loved her family and we take comfort knowing that she is now at peace surrounded by light.
Helen is survived by her three sons Albert and his wife Billie Jo of New Fairfield, Mark of Bridgeport and Dean and his wife Terry of Woodbury; three grandchildren, Austin, Morgan and Casey Watson; two sisters, Geraldine Fields of Danbury and Joan Giannitti of Stamford; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, her sisters, Dorothy Weaver and Edna Pavia, and her brothers, John and Edward Waterbury. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service Saturday, 26, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Aspetuck Cemetery, RT 58, Easton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in honor of her late husband, Albert Watson.
