Helena Marie Pajolek

Helena “Sis” Marie Pajolek, age 94, beloved wife of the late Dr. Chester Pajolek, passed peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2023. Born in Bridgeport to Cecil and Mary (Lauris) Turrell, Sis was a lifelong resident of Fairfield. She attended Sherman School and Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield before attending the Butler Business School. In her youth, Helena volunteered as a Candy Striper at Bridgeport Hospital. In 1952, Helena married the love of her life, Chester Pajolek. The pair briefly moved to Milwaukee while Chester attended dental school at Marquette before returning to Fairfield. Chester and Sis loved to go for walks along Fairfield’s beaches, as well as attending countless Fairfield University basketball games at Alumni Hall. For many years Sis worked in the Town of Fairfield Assessor’s Office, and later the Connecticut National Bank.

Sis loved spending time with friends and family; in fact, if you were a friend, you were considered family. Whether through the Ladies Guild at St. Pius X Church, the Lake Hills Bowling League, or the Par 3 Ladies Golf Group, Sis always looked forward to catching up with friends. She was always delighted to help loved ones organize a gathering or banquet. In true social butterfly fashion, Sis loved to stay in touch with friends – and she had many! She relished in sharing her family’s goings on and equally enjoyed hearing about others.

In addition to her parents, Sis is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Chester Pajolek. Helena is survived by her two devoted sons, Thomas (Marcie Gow) Pajolek, of Fairfield, and Michael (Lisa Goff) Pajolek ,of Osterville, MA; her six beloved grandchildren, Chester (Clayton) Pajolek, of Brooklyn, NY, Mason (Samantha Wargolet) Pajolek, of Lincoln Park, IL, Hannah (Brendan) Murphy, of Hopkinton, NH, Michael (Anna) Pajolek, of Portsmouth, RI, Catherine Turrell Pajolek, of Newport, RI, and Louisa Goff Pajolek, of Boston, MA; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Samuel Starbuck Murphy, George Eldridge Murphy, and Pippa Goff Pajolek. She is also survived by her nieces, June (Malcolm) MacKenzie, of Fairfield, and Betty (Robert) Kocaba, of Florida.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Gupta and the staff at Watermark for their years of loving care and attention, as well as to the hospice caregivers for their exceptional care for Sis. Friends and family are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, CT. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Sis’ memory to a charity of your choice.
