Ilona Delmore Walsh

Ilona Delmore Walsh, 86, of Punta Gorda, FL, beloved wife of the late Patrick J. Walsh, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2016. The Daughter of the late Harold and Helen Delmore, Mrs. Walsh was born in Bridgeport. February 28, 1930. Mrs. Walsh graduated from Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall, Milford, as did her granddaughter Chase. Mrs. Walsh received her degree in education from Teachers College of CT TCC. Mrs. Walsh lived the majority of her life in Fairfield, CT., and was a retired elementary school teacher in the Fairfield school system. Mrs. Patrick J. Walsh touched many individual's lives with her quiet acts of kindness and compassion. Following the passing of her husband in 1990, Mrs. Walsh relocated to Punta Gorda, FL. and was an active Rotarian, a member at Saint Andrews South Golf Club, and The Isles Yacht Club. Mrs. Walsh however never left Fairfield, as she returned every year to spend time with her family and friends. Mrs. Walsh is survived by her two sons, Patrick M. Walsh (Laura Wendt) of Fairfield CT., Peter J. Walsh of Punta Gorda, FL., granddaughter Chase D. Kjellberg (Scott), and grandson P.J. (Patrick Joseph II) Walsh. Mrs. Walsh is also survived by her beloved sister Yolanda Vossler, and husband Robert Vossler, along with four nephews and their spouses, as well as her seven grandnieces and grand nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola at Fairfield University. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
