Irene B. Avery

Irene B. Avery, age 84, of Trumbull, died Saturday, January 17, 2015. She was the widow of Attorney Robert W. Avery, her high school sweet heart to whom she was married for 45 years. Irene's adventurous life began in Pennsylvania where she was the youngest child of a large family. She and her husband raised three children in Trumbull. Mrs. Avery enjoyed a successful professional life as a Realtor in Fairfield County from the early 1960's until her retirement, achieved the nationally accredited Graduate R. E. Institute II level early in her career, and managed a local real estate business in Trumbull for years. Irene was a member of various arts organizations in Fairfield County and was an accomplished painter who presented her work in juried shows. Most recently her paintings were displayed in West Hartford. She and her husband relished travel abroad and enjoyed vacationing at their favorite New Hampshire and Florida locations. Mrs. Avery was a member of the Trumbull Cong. Church for decades where she served as a Deacon at various times. During the last five months she resided at the Hebrew Home in West Hartford. The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided to their mother by the nurses and aids at Hebrew Home. She is survived by two daughters, Roberta Avery and her husband William Quinn, Gail Avery-Closs and her husband Elton Closs, a son Robert W. Avery and his wife Kathy Avery, grandchildren Elton and Brenton Closs, and Jennifer and Kaitlyn Avery. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 10:30 AM meeting DIRECTLY at Trumbull Congregational Church, 3115 Reservoir Ave., Trumbull with interment to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
