James J. Mead

James J. Mead, age 89, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Anne V. Kelly Mead, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Monday, April 21, 2014. Born in Coney Island, NY, Mr. Mead was a resident of Fairfield for the past four years, previously living in Westbury, NY for nearly fifty years. Mr. Mead was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II from 1943-1946. He graduated from the City College of New York with a degree in Business Administration. He worked for Linemaster Switch Corporation of Woodstock, CT for 37 years. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by five daughters: Judy Mead and her husband Enrique Lasansky, of Tucson, AZ, Gail Mead and her husband John Kiremidjian of Fairfield, Lorraine Mead and her husband William Daly of Garden City, NY, Jackie Steed and her husband Michael of Fairfield, Kara Mead and her husband Jose Walewski of Fairfield, 12 grandchildren, Albert Kraus and his wife Stephanie, Jay Kraus, Jake, Kelly and Brian Kiremidjian., Liam Daly, Regan, Patrick and Jack Steed., Annie, Joseph and Thomas Walewski, 2 great granddaughters Olivia and Harper Kraus. James especially loved his family and delighted in spending time with his wife, Anne, his children and grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 5-8 PM in the Spear Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd. Fairfield, CT.
