Jean Louise Syarto

Jean Louise Syarto, aged 89, died peacefully October 18, 2017, at Ludlowe Center for Rehabilitation in Fairfield, CT. Mrs. Syarto was born Jean Louise Reel to Sherman Augustus Reel and Fietta Irene Strauser in Harrisburg, PA. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Reel, in 2009 and brother William Sherman Reel in 1923. Her husband of 40 years, Louis W. Syarto, died in 1988.

She is survived by her four children: Ronald Syarto and Catherine Torrieri of New York; Richard Syarto of Florida; Lauren and Thomas McInally of California and Stephen and Marilyn Syarto of Fairfield.

Remembering her are her seven grandchildren: Joshua Syarto and Ryan Syarto; Lindsey McInally, Erin McInally and Kathryn McInally; Chloe Syarto and Connor Syarto.

Jean was an outgoing person, always ready to chat and make friends. An excellent cook and baker, holidays were special at her house, and she always had room for one more. She loved games, especially pinochle and Scrabble, as well as the daily crossword.

Also honoring Jean's memory are her sister-in-law Carole Potocky Syarto, niece Sharon De Rosa, nephew James Syarto and nephew Bradley Reel. She leaves behind many grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield with the Rev. Tisha Branch, Senior Pastor of Golden Hill United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be private in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
