Jeanne Middlebrook Pekar

Jeanne Middlebrook Pekar, age 98, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late John Pekar, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Fairfield, one of 9 daughters of the late Elijah and Eliza Middlebrook, she had been a lifelong town resident. Jeanne was a descendant of Josiah Bartlett, 2nd signer of the Declaration of Independence. She was employed for many years as a chef at the Fairfield Country Day School. Mrs. Pekar loved gardening and was a long-time member of the Fairfield Horticultural Society. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she volunteered much of her time. Jeanne loved to dance and she and John always looked forward to dancing in various dance halls throughout the area. A true ambassador for peace, Jeanne was always there to help those in need and developed many friends throughout her long life. She loved her hometown of Fairfield and often referred to it as her "2nd Heaven". Survivors include three beloved children, John Pekar and his wife Paula of Cocoa Beach, FL, William Pekar and his wife Carol of La Quinta, CA and Thomas Pekar and his wife Lynda of Mission Viejo, CA; a sister, Irene Linn of Borger, TX; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving husband and best friend, John, she was predeceased by her seven sisters. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fairfield. Interment will be private in Lawncroft Cemetery.
