Jeremiah (Jerry) Joseph Leahy, Jr. AKA Bud, Buddy or Uncle Bud age 77, of Stamford CT, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022 after a long struggle with numerous health conditions. Born in San Francisco, CA, son of the late Jeremiah and Eileen (Mahoney) Leahy, he had been a Fairfield County resident since 1977. A proud father of two boys with a love for laughter and good times. Jerry served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He began his corporate career working for Bank of America while it was still a regional bank. He was promoted several times and was eventually transferred from San Francisco to New York where he became a Vice President of their leasing group. He then worked for General Electric Credit Corp. in the marketing and leasing division. Later, with a business partner, Jerry became involved in an equestrian related business and was instrumental in creating a week-long preliminary event to the Belmont Stakes the rights of which they later sold to the New York Racing Association. During the 1990s and early 2000s he became a very successful mortgage broker. He also purchased and managed his own real estate portfolio. He was a true entrepreneur. Jerry was very proud of his Irish heritage and went back to Ireland several times. He loved his sports cars, enjoyed playing tennis, watching sports, and traveling throughout the world. Learning about the different cultures and ways of life was fascinating to him. He will be sadly missed by his companion of 20 plus years, Martha Cerlon of Westport; his son Timothy P. Leahy and his wife Wendy of Fairfield; two sisters, Mary Valledor of San Francisco, CA and Jan Dwyer of Novato, CA; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Jeremiah Christian Leahy and his sister, Margaret (Peggy) Dumas. Family and friends may call Monday, Sept. 19 from 4:00p.m – 6:30p.m. in Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, CT. Interment will be private at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
