Jim M. Dowd

Jim Dowd, of Fairfield CT, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning September 18, 2016. James Moran Dowd, 42 is the beloved son of William Dowd and Deborah McKay Dowd, loving husband of Rebecca Boston Dowd, and devoted father to Aidan, Emily and Brian Dowd. Jim was a 4.0 graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School and Magna Cum Laude graduate of The University of Notre Dame. Jim earned his master's degree in England studying at the Shakespeare Institute in Will's hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon. Jim Dowd enjoyed a successful Public Relations career beginning at A&E TV and History Channel then to become NBC's Director of PR on the East Coast. Jim launched his first PR firm, The Dowd Agency, in 2005. His most recent company, DOWD INK represents the culmination of his success in the industry. It could be said that Jim's first love was Broadway, the Oscars and Shakespeare until Jim met Becky at The Mooring, where they worked together for many years as they started their careers and life together. Before beginning their family Jim and Becky enjoyed travelling together. Jim loved sports and ALL things Notre Dame. He could always be found cheering loudly for the Fighting Irish. Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his aunt and uncle, Bob and Gail Dowd, his cousins, Kelly Dowd Campbell, Tracy Dowd Ganti, Keith Dowd, Chris Dowd and their families, his in laws, Barbara Boston , Heather and Ed Garbacik, Holly and Bob Routhier, Sarah and Alex Barker and many nieces and nephews. And his loyal Bassett Hound, Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road (RT 59) Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers the family has set up the Jim Dowd Memorial Scholarship at Fairfield College Preparatory School.
