Joan Catherine Cavanaugh

Joan Catherine Cavanaugh, 90, of Fairfield passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Medical Center on February 24, 2023. Joan was born in Fairfield on October 3, 1932 to the late James and Elizabeth Gallagher Cavanaugh.

Joan was a Banking professional for her entire career, retiring as the manager of the Bank of America Branch in Southport. Joan earned the nickname “Ginger” as a child  because of her   attitude which continued throughout her life. She loved to sing and entertain her family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary , as well as a member and past president of the Bridgeport Quota Club, a national organization formed to empower women and those in need.

Joan is survived by her sister Barbara-Ann Cavanaugh, sister-in-law Ethel Cavanaugh and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her siblings Donald Cavanaugh, Isobel Broadhurst, Dolores Benson, Jeanne Cushion, as well as her special nephew Tony Broadhurst.

Friends and Family may visit at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4-6 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in Joan’s memory to the Isobel C. and John Broadhurst Endowment Fund at the Kennedy Collective c/o Stephanie Campbell, 2440 Reservoir Ave, Trumbull, CT 06611.
