Joan Jennings Finck

Joan Jennings Finck, age 84, a lifetime resident of Fairfield, beloved mother of three children and wife of the late Frederick Phillip Finck Jr., passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Glover Sanford & Elizabeth Savard Jennings, she graduated from Fairfield schools and Marjorie Webster Junior College. She was a Medical Secretary and Realtor during her life but her sense of fulfillment came from spending time with those she loved. She shared with her family, her dear friends and her loving caregivers, her gritty determination, humor and feisty spirit. She loved animals, especially her cat, Kitty, and watching the birds in her yard. In good health, Joan loved to travel, bowl, play tennis, knit and needle point and spend time with her friends and many cherished granddaughters.
She is survived by her 3 children, Elizabeth S. Finck of Fairfield, Kathryn F. Gardner and her husband H. M. Gardner of Princeton NJ, and F. Phillip Finck, III and his wife Lainie Crawford of Camden ME; grandchildren Abigail J. Finck, Anne J. Gardner, Kathryn M. Gardner and Margaret S. Gardner, Cassidy Crawford and Nora J. Finck. A wake will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 5-8pm at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM meeting DIRECTLY at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Rd., Fairfield, CT with interment to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, 1530 Bronson Rd., Fairfield, CT.
