John Richard Kozej

John R. Kozej, age 72, of Stratford, beloved husband of Mary Kozej, passed away with his family and friends by his side on Saturday, March 5, 2016. John was a Master Carpenter for over 50 years. He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and loved spending time working on his lawn and garden. John never missed an opportunity to share a beer and cigar with his friends. Survivors in addition to his wife Mary include three daughters, Gheri Kozej and her partner Lance Dechane of Stratford, Stefanie Kozej and her partner Bill Madelung of Milford, and Megan Kozej of Black Rock, a granddaughter Brianna Madelung, a sister Arlene Barbieri and her late husband Dr. Edmund L. Barbieri of Stratford, his lifelong friend Gene Pekar and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Kozej of Trumbull. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11 AM meeting directly at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 White Plains Rd. Trumbull.
