John P. Mccarthy

John P. McCarthy, age 68, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 5, 2015 at St. Joseph's Manor in Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Jeremiah and Ann (Massey) McCarthy, he had been a lifelong area resident. John was a graduate of Stratford High School and the Culinary Institute of America. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1969. John had an affinity for cars, loved to eat out, and never turned down an opportunity to be quick with a good joke. His career as a banquet captain in the hospitality service spanned many years. Survivors include three children, Ryan Schneider and his wife Lynne Cattafi of Maplewood, NJ, Tara Forzano and her husband Matthew of Vernon, and Kyle Schneider and his wife Rebekah of Glen Bernie, MD; five grandchildren, Shane, Matthew and Alex Forzano, Jack and Georgia Schneider; a brother, Jeremiah McCarthy and his wife Marian of Trumbull; two nephews Timothy McCarthy, Sean McCarthy; a niece Kelly Fox. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave. Trumbull, CT. Entombment will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, CT.
