John (Jack) E. Harwood, age 92, of Fairfield beloved husband of 61 years to Mary Jane (Barber) Harwood, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Carolton Chronic & Convalescent Hospital in Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late John and Estelle Harwood, he had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Jack proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired as a Shop Manager at Bridgeport Fittings. Jack was an active member and Past President of the Fairfield Lion’s Club and lifelong parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Survivors in addition to his loving wife Mary Jane include three beloved children, John E. Harwood and his wife, Gina of Hawthorne, NY, Brian W. Harwood of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Eileen Judd and her husband, Brian of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Zachary (Santana), Joseph (Kathy), Taylor (Gabrielle) and Courtney; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Harwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
