Joseph Foristel, Jr. of Norwalk, Connecticut, formerly of Pelham Manor, New York, died peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2016 surrounded by family. Joe was born on July 11, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Joseph Foristel and Patricia Dowling. Joe was 66 years old.
In 1992, Joe married Cynthia Helitzer in Westport, Connecticut. Joe loved sports and in his younger days he played football and baseball. Later in life his passion turned to golf. But more than anything, Joe loved his family and friends. His daughter was the single most important person to him (even when she gave him a hard time about taking care of himself). Joe was so proud when she was accepted into college.
Joe worked for many years in New York City for a small, family owned delivery service as the Operations Manager. He later owned numerous Federal Express Ground routes. Joe loved working outside and enjoyed being his own boss.
Joe will be remembered for his generous heart, loyalty and great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Joe is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Cynthia; a daughter, Sarah; (both of Norwalk, Connecticut); sisters: Nancy Haynes of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Patsy Campbell (Mike) of Port Chester, New York; brothers: Thomas Foristel (Michele) of Harrison, New York; Stephen Foristel of California and David Foristel of New Rochelle, New York. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends for an informal gathering at Spear Miller Funeral home (39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, Connecticut) on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from Noon to 2pm.
