Joseph James Walsh

Joseph JamesWalsh, 87, long time resident of Fairfield, passed away peacefully at his home on December 14, 2022 surrounded by his family. The love of his life was Elsie, to whom he was married for 56 years.  Born on August 26, 1935 to the late Dennis and Josephine O’Donahue Walsh. Joe grew up in Astoria, Queens.

A passionate educator, Joe rose through the ranks to become the Principal at Roger Sherman School in Fairfield. In his free time Joe loved to: attend daily mass, volunteer at Merton House and the jail, golf, travel, watch birds and was an avid sports fan especially of baseball. His greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his family and friends.

He is the devoted father to Alyson Uria and her spouse Tony and Jennifer Pida her spouse Tom. He also is the proud grandfather to: Christina, Alexis, Antonio, Sydney and Cailey.

Friends and family may visit at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd, Fairfield, on Sunday December 18

from 4-6PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 19 at. 10AM at St. Pius X. Catholic
