Joseph Francis Nemeth, age 98, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Mary Lorinc Nemeth, entered into eternal rest, Saturday, January 24, 2015. Born in Fairfield the son of the late John and Mary Nemeth he had been a Fairfield resident for most of his life. Joseph enlisted in US Army during WWII and was stationed in Newfoundland. Joseph was a retired machinist for Bridgeport Machines. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and was a wonderful cook. He enjoyed gardening, raising vegetables and flowers. Joseph spent summers in Belgrade Lake, Maine and winters playing golf in Tequesta, Florida. He enjoyed attending church every Sunday, but above all else delighted in time spent with his family and friends, especially his cherished grandchildren. Survivors include two children, Alan Nemeth and his wife Sheila and Laura Burr of Fairfield; two grandchildren, Ryan Burr and his wife Elaine of Mystic and Daniel Burr of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Zoltan Nemeth and a sister, Helen Farkas. A Funeral service will be held TUESDAY February 3, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford will be private.
