Josephine Kielbus

Josephine Catherine Kielbus (Zima), age 100 of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Benjamin A. Kielbus, died peacefully at the Carolton Nursing Home on April 4, 2015. She is survived by her devoted children, Kristine Varnum of Fairfied, Nancy Griffiths and her husband Evan of Oxford, her goddaughter, Kathy Zima of Cheshire. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kielbus was predeceased by her son Benjamin Kielbus Jr., brother John Zima of Fairfield. and brothers and sisters in Poland and deceased sons-in- law Robert Varnum Sr. and Michael P. Dunn. Josephine was born in Yonkers, NY to the late Michael and Katanzyna Zima and has been a long time resident of Fairfield. She has four cherished grandchildren who lovingly refer to her as BaBa. They are Robert Varnum Jr. and his wife Christine of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Lori Sprows and husband David of Southport, Deborah Okolovitch and husband, Michael of Stratford and Kathleen Dunn-Richmond and husband Tom of Rockwall, TX. Mark Kielbus of Fairfield, Adam Kielbus of Naugatuck, and Jacob Kielbus of Colorado and 7 great grandchildren, Colin and Patrick Sprows, Ryan and Abigail Varnum, Michaela, Morgan and Maeve Richmond. Josephine was a member of the Polish Heritage Society, past president of the PTA, and a member of ALANON. Her hobbies were cooking, baking, sewing and traveling especially to Poland to visit her family. She was a devoted mother, wife, friend and grandmother and great grandmother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Emery's Church, Kings Highway on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery Fairfield. Friends & family may call in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield on Monday April 13, 2015 from 4-8 PM.
