Josephine V. Pellicano

Josephine Pellicano, age 87, of Westport, beloved wife of the late Dominic Pellicano, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 29, 2015, in her home that she loved. Born in Montreal, Canada the daughter of the late Pasquale and Irma Dardano, she had been a Westport resident since 1963. Mrs. Pellicano received her Registered Nursing Degree from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Montreal in 1956 and later worked at Mediplex of Westport for nearly 15 years. She was a kind and gentle person, and faithful parishioner for over 50 years of the Church of the Assumption. Josie loved Westport and particularly Compo Beach. She had been a member of the Westport Sons of Italy and integral part of the Festival Italiano from its inception in the 1980's. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Westport Center for Senior Activities. She loved traveling, taking pictures, was a wonderful cook, and devoted to family. She particularly delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include three beloved children, Thomas Pellicano and his wife Anne of Southbury, John Pellicano and his wife Barbara of Bethany and Lori Pellicano of Westport; Four adoring grandchildren, Kaitlin, Brian, Teresa (Tess) and Steven Pellicano; three loving sisters, Dora Burdick, Rita Laliberte and Mary Loiacono all of Laval, Quebec, Canada; and many nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents and loving husband Dominic, she was predeceased by her brother, Nick Dardano. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at the Church of the Assumption, 98 Riverside Avenue, Westport. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Greens Farms. Friends may call Sunday from 1-5 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
