Joy Fierro

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beautiful and loving mother, Joy Fierro, who at 92, went peacefully home in joyous reunion with her cherished friends and family, including her brothers Santoro and Sandy, sister Aggie, mother Jenny, and her father Gaspare, who she lost in a tragic accident when she was only 12 years old.

As a first-generation American, born to Italian immigrants and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Mom exemplified the values of faith, family, resilience and determination. Following high school, she embarked on a distinguished career in advertising, helping to support her widowed mother and later marrying our beloved father, Joe Fierro (deceased 11/2/23). Together, they raised us (Doug, Mark, Chris, Denise, and Steven) in Manhasset, NY.

Mom always worked but never sacrificed motherhood for career. Whether it was a last-minute drive to Disney World for Winter break, a 4am wake up call for a day of skiing, seeing a Broadway show, or packing a cooler for Sunday at Jones Beach and a barbeque in the dunes, Mom made sure we experienced as much as possible. She loved a full house and welcomed everyone. So much of who we are and how we love our own families is a tribute to our incredible, compassionate, loving Mother. We will remember her chic but quiet sophistication, her resolve (she earned her college degree in the 1970’s while working full time) creativity, energy, patience, passion for her grandchildren (Thomas, Alexandra, Morgan, Aidan and Lola), and especially the abundant love and guidance she showered on us. Godspeed Mom, your dance card will be full and your happiness eternal.
