Juana G. (Juanita) Doce

Juana Doce, 85 of Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Cambridge Manor in Fairfield, CT. She leaves behind her beloved husband Alvaro of 62 years, sons Alfonso of Seattle, WA, Richard and his wife Katherine of Stratford, CT, granddaughters Kaitlyn & Sarah Doce of Stratford, CT. Juana was born on September 2nd 1929 in Bridgeport CT, her family then moved to Brooklyn N.Y, where her sister Carmen was born. A few years later, during the Depression the family returned home to Spain. On December 27th 1952 she married Alvaro Doce in Spain. Juana worked most of her life as a machine operator at Erickson Industries in Stratford, CT. Her best time was taking care of her two most beloved granddaughters after she retired. Known affectionately by friends and family as Juanita, she will best be remembered for her Paella, egg crockets, giant heirloom tomatoes she was so proud of and her engaging smile. Juanita will be sadly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Entombment will follow in the Pilgrimage Mausoleum at Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 pm in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
