Judith H. (Bilyard) Stern

Judith H. Stern, age 82, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Peter Lewis Stern passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family Saturday, January 29, 2022.  Judy is now rejoined with her loving husband Peter, who passed away February 2, 2021.  Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Bilyard, she had been a lifelong Fairfield resident.  A 1957 graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Judy worked various jobs during her life, but her greatest role was that of a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.  She was very proud of her Irish heritage and considered St. Patrick’s Day her favorite day of the year. She remained dear friends with her lifelong friend Yvonne Campos and her family and also stayed in touch with many of her high school classmates.  She is survived by her three loving children, Peter C. Stern and his wife Busia of Fairfield, Jeffrey R. Stern of Fairfield and Mimi Stern of Norwalk; two cherished and adored granddaughters who could do no wrong in her eyes, Grace and Olivia Stern who will miss their “Nina” greatly; a brother, Peter Bilyard and his wife Celeste of Stratford and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Bilyard and a sister, Barbara Davies.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield.  Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.  A visitation will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.  In lieu of flowers, contribution in memory of Judy may be made to the Dementia Society of America, P.O.
