Kathleen Ann Smith

Smith Kathleen Ann Lindwall (Kathi) Smith, age 67, entered into eternal rest suddenly on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, with her loving family by her side. Kathi was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late George and Helen Rose Lindwall. She was an Easton resident for many years, and was the Commissioner for the Parks and Recreation Department. She was quite active in her community as a member of the Resurrection Choir at Assumption Church, the Easton Republican Town Committee, and the Women's Auxiliary for Catholic War Veterans. She was a caregiver and friend to the elderly for her whole life, caring for her patients with great devotion and love. Her family was most important to her and filled her heart with great joy. She was a loving wife to her husband Albert for 42 years, and a sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend to everyone she touched. She also is survived by her daughters Melissa (Mike) Davidson of Shelton, and Ashley (Thomas) Conlan of Oxford, and sons Albert (Allison) Smith of Monroe, and Nicholas Smith of Easton. She was a loving grandmother, friend and confidant to 6 grandchildren who loved and adored her: Alexandra and Jacqueline Davidson, Katie, Bryn and Jake Conlan, and Sierra Smith. They were the world to her! She also is survived by her sisters and sister-in-law, Elaine (Robert) Hofmiller, Sharon (William) Szturma, Terri (Jay) Genetti, Karen (Joseph) Cubbellotti, and Marcia Lindwall. She was predeceased by her brother, Dennis Lindwall. In addition, she leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who affectionately called her "Crazy Kathi". Kathi will always be remembered for her ability to brighten any room she entered. Her carefree spirit, zest for life, and infectious laugh can be summed up in the following: "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Holy cow, what a ride!" A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mikey's Way Foundation, 2228 Blackrock Turnpike, Ste. 311, Fairfield, CT, 06825.
