Lola (Fattibene) Stephanic

Lola Stephanic passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Middlebrook Farms in Trumbull. She was 97 years old.

Lola was born to John and Grace Fattibene in 1924 and was the youngest of three children. Her parents immigrated from Italy in the 1910’s and they resided in Bridgeport, CT among a large extended family. Lola attended Bridgeport public schools and graduated from Harding High School in 1942. She went on to study at the University of Bridgeport and had a long career in the Bridgeport school system at the elementary and middle school levels. She retired as Curiale School guidance counselor in 1994.

Lola married Jack Stephanic in 1967 and moved to Monroe, CT. She lived in Monroe for over fifty years and loved it there. Lola and Jack spent countless hours on home improvements and gardening, even planting a grove of fruit trees and berry bushes. She took pleasure in hosting gatherings of family and friends at her home. Lola traveled through most of her life. First to Italy visiting extended family. She later expanded her horizons to include Latin America, Morocco, and the jungles of Africa. Lola was a longtime parishioner at St. Jude’s church in Monroe.

She is predeceased by her husband, Jack Stephanic, her beloved sister, Pearl Fattibene, her brother, John Fattibene and sister-in-law Julia Fattibene. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Lola will be buried alongside her loved ones at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 3 to 5pm. A funeral home service will be held at Spear-Miller Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 12 at 10am.
