Louise W. Hine, age 91, beloved wife of the late Lawrence F. Hine, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 2, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Staten Island, NY, the daughter of the late Arthur S. and Muriel V. Whittemore, she grew up in Montclair, NJ, where she attended Montclair schools. She graduated in 1951 from Mount Holyoke College. She lived in Stratford and Milford for over 60 years (before moving to Bloomfield in 2013), and was an Officer at Bank Mart, formerly City Savings Bank, in Stratford, and later worked as Assistant to the President at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County, the Society of Mayflower Descendants, and the United Congregational Church of Bridgeport. Louise was a founding board member of the School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport; a board member of the AAUW, Junior League; and active in Mount Holyoke alumnae affairs. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Kathryn Federico of SC, Judith H. Oliverio and her husband David of Windsor, and Nancy H. Flanagan of Waterbury; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur S. Whittemore, Jr., and a son-in-law, Louis Federico. A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
