Lucy DeFoe Roberts, after valiantly battling pancreatic cancer, died peacefully at her home, in Southport, Connecticut, Friday, February 27, 2015. Lucy graduated with a master's degree from Fairfield University. She was a dedicated social worker who helped countless families and individuals by providing alcohol and drug abuse counseling. Lucy was a generous and giving individual who loved education and was active in many philanthropic organizations. She was passionate about giving back to the community and volunteered her services and time to many organizations, including Eagle Hill School, Emerge, Visiting Nurse Services, and Fairfield University. Lucy was an active and devoted member of the Southport Congregational Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Blair Elizabeth Roberts, of Long Meadow, MA, and Page Roberts Tremaine and her husband Gean, of Southport, four granddaughters, Abigail Vassallo, Lucy, Lilly and Georgia Tremaine, her two sisters, Page DeFoe of the Bahamas, and Rev. Wendy DeFoe Lane and her husband Charles, of Chicago, and a brother Daniel DeFoe of Westport, CT. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Grant Van Allen Roberts. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Southport Congregational Church, with the Rev. Paul Whitmore and Rev. Wendy Lane officiating the ceremony.
