Luis Ortiz, age 55 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of 25 years of Mary (Foo) Ortiz, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Leeway in New Haven after a long illness. Born in Bridgeport the son of the late Cirilio and Blanca Ortiz, he had been a lifelong area resident. Luis worked for many years as a short order cook for several restaurants in the Bridgeport area. He delighted in time spent with his large extended family. Survivors in addition to his loving wife and devoted caregiver during his illness, Mary, include a beloved son, Luis Ortiz, Jr. of Bridgeport; a granddaughter, Brianna Ortiz; four sisters, Aida Ortiz, Maria Rodriguez, Fatima Millet and Maritza Millet; a brother, Lindsey Millet; a special aunt and uncle, Charlotte Morin and her husband James; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ricardo E. Ortiz, Carlos Ortiz and Victor Millet; and two special aunts, Isabel and Dolores Ortiz. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Long Hill Baptist Church, 100 Middlebrooks Avenue, Trumbull, CT with the Rev. Robert W. Hammond, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Pastor Bob Hammond for the special care, comfort and spiritual support provided to Luis and his family during his illness.
