Luis (Ruben) Ortiz

Luis (Ruben) Ortiz, age 61, of Stratford, beloved husband of Tammy Pavone Ortiz, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Yale-New Haven Hospital following a short illness. Born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, he had been an area resident for most of his life. Ruben's career as a Chef spanned many years. He was currently employed at Milford Hospital where he was loved by all of his co-workers. He enjoyed wrestling and boxing, and was truly an accomplished Chef. He loved all kinds of music; Willie Colon being his favorite musician. He delighted in adventures with Tammy and their children, and always looked forward to participating in holiday runs with his family. Survivors in addition to his loving wife Tammy include four children: Christina, Amber, Stephanie and Luis; his loving mother, Gloria Aponte Ortiz; his eight siblings: Ruben, Edwin, Reynaldo, Francis, Milagros, Manuel, Gloria and Pedro; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Angel Ortiz. Friends may greet the family Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
