Margaret Crowley (Marge) Chopskie

Margaret (Marge) Chopskie, age 86, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Jerry Chopskie, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 28, 2018, at CT Hospice, Branford, with family by her side. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Norah Crowley. Marge was raised in Bridgeport and had been a Fairfield resident for the last 60 years. She was a graduate of Bassick High School where she began dating her high school sweetheart, Jerry. She worked for S.N.E.T. as a switchboard operator and in repair services prior to raising her family. Marge was an avid golfer, who enjoyed playing with her sister, brother-in-law, sons, friends, and most of all her husband. She was also an active member and past President of the Women's League at H. Smith Richardson Golf Course. Marge proudly achieved making a hole-in-one at Griffith E Harris Golf Course in Greenwich, CT. Marge was an active long-time parishioner of Holy Family Church where she was a member of Holy Family Women's Guild. She was a gym teacher and coached girls' basketball and softball for over 10 years at Holy Family School. Marge loved cooking and opening her home to entertain family and friends. She looked forward to Christmas Eve which was always an annual event. Marge cherished her children and grandchildren. She got great joy out of attending her kids' and grandkids' ball games, dance recitals and competitions, concerts and plays. Survivors include three beloved children, Scott Chopskie and his wife Jennifer of Trumbull, Alicia Smith and her husband David of Shelton, and Gregg Chopskie and his wife Tina of Monroe; a sister, Eileen Crowley of Fairfield; six fantastic grandchildren, Alex and Grayson Chopskie, Kaitlyn and Ryan Smith, and Tyler and Brenna Chopskie; a brother-in-law, Jack Dundon of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Chopskie of Syracuse, NY; 4 loving nieces and nephews, Kathleen and Robby Dundon and Bob and Brian Chopskie; and a special long-time friend, Barbara Hannon of Bridgeport. She was predeceased by her devoted sister, Catherine Dundon and a brother-in-law, William (Bill) Chopskie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
