Margaret M. (Peggy) Corcoran, age 63 of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016. Born in Bridgeport the daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret Corcoran she had been a lifelong area resident. She graduated in 1971 from the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall and St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing. Peggy worked for over 30 years at St. Vincent's Medical Center where she held several positions including Head Nurse of the Psychiatric Unit, and was recognized for her dedicated work with the Employee of the Year Award. Peggy was a lifelong active member of the Gaelic American Club and considered it her home away from home where many of the members were considered family to her. She was a tireless volunteer and served on numerous GAC committees. Most recently Peggy could be seen working at the door as a hostess and greeter. She is survived by an aunt, Margaret Corcoran of Southport and many cousins in the United States and Ireland as well as her many friends at the Gaelic American Club A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 481 Brewster St., Bridgeport. Family and friends may call Thursday, December 15th from 4-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
