Margaret M. Galbicsek

Margaret "Peggy" Galbicsek, 99, of Fairfield passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025. Margaret, lovingly known as Granny, was born in Bridgeport on February 10, 1926 to the late Alfred and Mathilda Voight Bain. She was a lifelong resident of Fairfield, graduating from Roger Ludlowe High School as secretary of her class.

Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Elmer, and her son, Robert. She was the loving mother of Elaine Waiksnis, Sandra (Eugene) Alterio, and Thomas (Nora) Galbicsek. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Joan Galbicsek, her 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her precious cat, Dasher.

Peggy was known for loving all things purple, having a great sense of humor, and always having a large selection of tea on hand. She savored her nightly 9pm ice cream treat and the occasional Sunday night dinner wine spritzer. She would tell you that she rooted for the Patriots, but in actuality, she was just a fan of the handsome Tom Brady. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas church and regularly enjoyed lunches with friends after Sunday mass. On Wednesdays, she looked forward to socializing with friends while enjoying the fish dinner at Captain’s Cove Seaport. Peggy also frequented Fairfield Marina, where she would bring coffee & a snack from McDonald's to enjoy the water views. She relished her independence and drove until she was 96 years old. Peggy cherished each and every one of her family members, making them all feel like her favorite. She put a smile on everyone's face and she will be greatly missed.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday February 22 from 9-10:15 AM at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd, Fairfield.
