Margaret "Peggy" (Hogan) Craw

“Peggy” Craw passed away on 2/28/23 in Fairfield, CT at the age of 92. Peggy was the beloved wife of Elmer R. Craw, who died January 28, 2012.

Peggy was born in Bridgeport, CT on 11/16/1930 to the late John Hogan & Lucy Buccino Hogan. She grew up in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School in 1948. On January 20, 1951 she married Elmer Craw of Stratford, CT. Peggy raised 4 boys in Trumbull, CT, where she was active in Saint Theresa Parish. Her first son, John, suffered from Muscular Dystrophy and Peggy devotedly and lovingly cared for him all 16 years of his life.

After raising her boys, Peggy continued her education at Sacred Heart University, and graduated in 1979. After graduation she worked at Sacred Heart as an academic counselor. Peggy enjoyed tennis, skiing, and especially playing golf at Brownson Country Club in Shelton – where she once shot a hole-in-one. She also played golf at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Going to the beach was a favorite pastime Peggy shared with her family in Watch Hill, RI and in Juno Beach and Key Biscayne, FL. As an original New York Jets season-ticket holder, she enjoyed some epic moments with her family including Super Bowl III in Miami.

Peggy was predeceased by Elmer, her husband of 61 years, her first born son, John E. Craw, and her sister, Mary Lou Kecko.

She is survived by three sons and their families: Gary & Susan Craw of Colorado Springs, CO; Jeffrey & Lorrie Craw of Trumbull, CT; and David & Gianine Craw of Stratford, CT. Peggy was blessed with seven loving grandchildren; Shelby, Christina (John), Jessica, Jeffrey, Davis, Victoria (Jason) and Haley. She also had four great-grandchildren: Jack, Jamison, Catherine and Savannah, all of whom she treasured.

Peggy is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Lorensen (Fred) and Joan Staffaroni (Jim), her brother-in-law Francis Kecko and numerous nieces and nephews.
