Marianne Haug Gjersvik, 91, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022. She was a graduate of the High School of Music and Art (now LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts) and The Cooper Union in New York, NY. She was an accomplished painter, printmaker, graphic designer, photographer, teacher, writer and published author of Green Fun.
Her career in commercial art began at Sports Illustrated with their inaugural issue in 1953 and continued to include freelance work for GE, Xerox, IBM, Stauffer Chemical Company and VISCOM Publications where she was a Senior Art Director when she retired. She was a professional portrait painter and photographer and exhibited her work with Silvermine Guild among others.
Marianne is survived by her daughter Erica Green and her husband Joel Green of Fairfield, CT; her son Gilbert Gjersvik and his wife Alison Gjersvik of New York, NY; her granddaughters Sarah Green and Anna Green and Elizabeth Gjersvik and Rachel Gjersvik; her brother Tobias Haug and sister-in-law Louisa Haug of Venice, FL: her niece Katrina Haug of Sarasota, FL and nephew Karl Haug of Plattekill NY.
A private memorial service was held at the Unitarian Church in Westport, CT where she was an active member.
Marianne created an Audubon certified sanctuary in her backyard in East Norwalk, CT. Nature was her life-long love and inspiration. Donations may be made in her honor to the charity of your choice or to the CT Audubon Society,
