Marilyn Carpenter Mceachern

Marilyn Carpenter McEachern, age 87 went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 5, 2016 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late John and Catherine Carpenter she lived her early life in Black Rock and most of her adult life in Fairfield. She graduated from Bassick High School in 1946 and attended Weylister Junior College. She worked in retail for Read's Department Store and the Fairfield Store. Mrs. McEachern was a lifelong member of Black Rock Congregational Church. She volunteered at Bridgeport Hospital and as a counselor for the American Cancer Society. Marilyn's proudest achievement was raising her five beloved sons. Predeceased by her son Ward, she is survived by four sons, Keith McEachern and his wife Pamela of New Fairfield, Brian McEachern of Easton, Dana McEachern of Shelton and Ian McEachern of Sarasota, FL; six loving grandchildren, Lucas, Michael, Ryan, Jesse, Alexandra and Evan McEachern; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her son, she was predeceased by a sister, Beatrice Carley and two brothers, Eldridge and Hubert Carpenter. Friends may greet the family Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A prayer service celebrating her life will be held at 4 p.m. with the Rev. James Marshall officiating. Interment will be private.
