Marion B. Lindsley

Wednesday February 14, 2018 is the day the world became a lonelier place with the passing of a very gracious lady, Marion B. Lindsley. She passed peacefully in her home after a brief illness.
Born in Bridgeport Connecticut on October 10, 1921, Marion was the only child of Joseph and Marietta Beyonette. She attended local schools and went to Wheaton College in Massachusetts. After graduation she met the love of her life, the late Earle A. Lindsley Jr. ("Bud"). They built their home in Monroe where she lived the remainder of her life.

Never having children of their own, Marion and Bud became a favorite ‘Aunt' and ‘Uncle' to relatives and friends alike. Marion was very active in the Girls Scouts Connecticut Trails Council and the Monroe Historical Society where she helped develop the historical garden. Her service to her church was a large part of her life for many years. Singing in the church choir, teaching and leading the Youth Group and directing many plays were a great use of Marion's many talents. She loved bird-watching, sewing and award-winning crewelwork. Her love of cats was known to everyone who knew her. Family genealogy was a passion and hobby with Marion researching and keeping records. Marion enjoyed reading, traveling, going to the theatre, playing bridge, and golf. Traveling and playing golf were two hobbies she especially enjoyed with her beloved husband. In addition to employment at Warnaco Group and General Electric, Marion was a remarkable homemaker, and then, for many years an exceptional caregiver and strong advocate for her husband.

Marion is survived by two cousins, Rose Vogel and Patricia Simone (wife of the late William Simone); her loving and only niece Shirley Lindsley; nephews Mark, Philip and Thomas Smith; and nephews David, William and Donald Lindsley; and the children of Marion's dearest and lifelong friend Margaret Boynton Sicilian - Anne, Catherine, James, Joseph and Paul Sicilian, with whom Marion had a close bond. Dear neighbors and caring friends - Angelina Valentino, Patricia and Peter Gay, Dorothy McCarthy, Joanne Mariani and her special friend Jan Zembruski were Marion's angels here on earth. They all remained in close contact and supported Marion, making it possible for Marion to remain in the comfort of her home where she enjoyed seeing neighbors, the garden plantings, and bird-watching from her front window. Special thanks to Paul Fonte, Marion's trusted friend; Marion's home health aide, Ms. Sol Hartwell for providing compassionate care and companionship to Marion; and caregivers from Jewish Home Senior Services and VITAS who provided home care services.
