Marion Waite Prescott, 103, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2018 in Orange, CT. Born on February 15, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Freeman Pearson Waite and Marion Denton Waite, she was raised in Philadelphia, PA, graduating from Germantown High School in 1932. She began her career as a secretary at Curtis Publishing Company and, with a few exceptions, lived and worked in Philadelphia until moving to Fairfield, CT in 1949 with her late husband Henry (Harry) Alspach Prescott, Jr. whom she married in June, 1940. He died in 1973. Marion worked at the Bullard Company in Bridgeport, CT (Electrolux) for 21 years, retiring as executive secretary to the sales manager of the company in April, 1981. She lived in Fairfield for 64 years before moving to Crosby Commons and then to Maplewood at Orange. She was a long-time member of Fairfield-Grace Methodist Church. Marion enjoyed socializing, writing poetry and playing bridge. In addition to being predeceased by her parents and husband of 33 years, she was predeceased by her sister, Sarah A. Waite, and a grandson, John DeLeon. She is survived by her son, David Prescott of Santa Fe, NM and her daughter, Susan DeLeon of Oro Valley, AZ, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitors may call on Tuesday, October 16 between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM at Lesko Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield. A later funeral service will be limited to the immediate family.
