Mary O Douglas

Mary O. Douglas, age 87, a lifetime Fairfield resident, beloved wife of the late David D. Douglas, passed away peacefully on Monday August 10, 2015 at her home with her loving family at her side. Born in Fairfield, Mary graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and later met her husband David at Borden's Dairy where she worked as a secretary. After marrying, she remained a dedicated wife and mother; later returning to work in the field of elderly nursing care. Throughout her life Mary was a diligent caretaker to her daughter Maryann. Her Fairfield home and vacations to East Hampton, L.I. were both very special places to her where she created many family memories. Survivors include her son Peter Douglas and his wife Shane, a daughter Maryann Douglas., two sisters Margaret O'Hara and Alice Daly O'Hara; a grandson, David D. Douglas, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Douglas Maciolak, her parents Francis J. and Mary Sweeny O'Hara and brothers, Frances J. O'Hara, John P. O'Hara, Thomas P. O'Hara, and James E. O'Hara. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 18, 2015 at 10:00AM meeting directly at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5-8 PM in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home 39 South Benson Rd. Fairfield, Ct.
