Mary Genese

Mary Mondello Genese, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Massachusetts.

Born in 1937 in New York City, Mary grew up in the Bronx, raised by her devoted mother, Frances Mondello, alongside her cherished sister, Theresa "Tess." She was predeceased by her adoring husband, Frank Genese, her mother, Frances, and her sister, Tess.

In her early years, Mary worked as a model and secretary in New York City, but her true passion in life was her family. She married the love of her life, Frank, in 1969, and together they built a warm and loving home in Connecticut, raising their two sons, Thomas (Tom) and Jonathan (Jon). Family was everything to Mary, and some of the fondest memories were Sunday night dinners, where she found joy in cooking for those she loved, filling the room with food, stories, and laughter.

Mary had a deep appreciation for antiques—she could tell you the story and value of just about anything on Antiques Roadshow. She was a woman of love and strength, always putting her family first and sharing her wisdom and love with those around her.

She leaves behind her son Tom and his wife, Laura, and their children, Lilah and Tommy; her son Jon and his wife, Julie, and their children, Isabella, Nicholas, Emma Kate, Annie, and Charlie. She will also be dearly missed by her beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mary’s legacy of love, family, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A small service will be held at Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield, Connecticut on Friday, February 7th at 12pm. Interment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
