Mary Jane Grenier, age 89 of Westport, beloved wife of the late Wallace J. Grenier, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 16, 2015 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in White Plains, NY and raised in Valhalla, the daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret Lawrence she had been a Westport resident for over 50 years, most recently residing at the Greens at Cannondale in Wilton. Mrs. Grenier was an accomplished artist and a graduate of the Arts Student League in New York City. For many years she was a fashion illustrator for Vogue Magazine. She was a talented oil and watercolor artist and exhibited her work locally including the Pequot Library, Westport Senior Center and the Silvermine Arts Center. She also was a volunteer at Norwalk Hospital. Survivors include two beloved daughters, Margaret Grenier-Markman of Las Cruces, NM and Anne L. Grenier of Brentwood, CA; a sister, Barbara Bridgers of Cherry Hill, NJ; seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son, Thomas L. Grenier and a daughter, Barbara Anderson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 84 Long Lots Road, Westport. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Westport. Friends may greet the family Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
