Mary V. Izzo Lehn, age 88 of Fairfield, beloved wife of Edward L. Lehn, "The love of her life", passed away peacefully Sunday, December 25, 2016. The daughter of the late James and Florence Izzo, she was born in Westport to a large and loving Italian American family. She was a Fairfield resident for 68 years. Mary was a well-known and skilled waitress in Westport and Fairfield who often delivered her words of wisdom along with the food order. Small in stature, fiery, and full of energy she was a patriotic soul who loved to cook, garden, sing, and was an avid fan of the New York Mets. Mary was a generous, kind and forgiving woman who will truly missed by many. In addition to her husband of 42 years she is survived by her children; Fannie P. Conley and her husband Jim of Stratford, Flory P. Denhard and her husband George of Marblehead, MA and James P. Papageorge and his wife Daphne of Ashburn, VA; grandchildren, Adam and Mollie Denhard and William, Eleni and Christian Papageorge. Also surviving are two sisters, Florence (Lee) Schaefer of Fairfield and Frances (Cookie) Izzo of Westport as well as three brothers, AJ Izzo, James Izzo and Bernard Izzo all of Westport. Mary will also be missed by her step-children, Pat Gustaitis of Fort Pierce, FL and Edward L. Lehn and his wife Barbara of Sun City, AZ, and grandchildren, Jon Gustaitis and his wife Irene and Jeff Gustaitis and his wife Jesse, Staci West and her husband Jamin and Becky Lehn; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her son, Elias (Louie) P. Papageorge and her siblings; Sal, Terry, Antoinette, Sara, Rose, Joe and John. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the American School for the Deaf, 139 N.
