After her retirement from Saint Vincent's she enjoyed working at Collins Medical Equipment and also was a parish nurse. Mary was a life time member of the Gaelic American Club, the St. Thomas Ladies Guild, and the Bellarmine Ladies Guild at Fairfield Prep. She loved Irish music and dance and shared that love with her children and grandchildren. Her Irish soda bread was a specialty enjoyed by many. Most of all she loved time with her family whether it was at home, or at her daughter or sons, at a game, on the beach, or on their many trips to Ireland over the years. Her grandchildren loved to listen to stories of her childhood in Ireland as they cozied up beside her. She saw the goodness in everything and everyone around her.
