Marylou Stern

Marylou (Nanny Bear )  Stern, 85, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on her 85th birthday, December 4, 2022. Marylou was born in Fairfield to the late Whitney Van Doren and Beatrice Johnson Lippincott.

Marylou could connect with children in a special way, which led to her passion of being a preschool teacher for many years. In her free time, Marylou enjoyed puzzles, reading and adult coloring books. Her greatest joy came from being with her family.

Marylou is survived by her children; Bruce (Sandy) Stern, Brian Stern, and Leslie (John) Markey. She was predeceased by her son Christopher Stern. She also leaves her treasured grandchildren: Alex, Bruce Jr., Sam, Christopher, Bret, Brody, Howie, Thomas, Peyton, Andrew, Trevor, and Gracie. She also leaves two adored great-grandchildren Mason and Serena. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to her son and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Whitney Van Doren Lippincott II, and Gloria Ruden.

A funeral service will be held on Monday December 12 at 7PM at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield, CT. Friends may visit with the family from 5-7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Ter., Fairfield, CT 06824
