Maura Carolyn Murphy

Maura C. Murphy, age 50, of Fairfield, beloved daughter of Thomas E. Murphy and Frances (DeVito) Murphy, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.  Born in Bridgeport, she was a lifelong Fairfield resident.  Maura was a graduate of Fairfield High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at Holy Family School and later authored and self-published young adult novels. Maura was a long-time lover of animals, especially her cherished cats. She was a devoted fan of the musical group BTS. Deeply devoted to her family, she was always assisting her parents and looking out for her beloved brother TJ. In addition to her loving parents, Maura will be deeply missed by her brother and best friend, TJ Murphy of Bridgeport; her aunt, Nancy Griffith of Gordonville, TX; her dear friend, Christine Butler of Southbury and several cousins. A private Mass celebrating Maura’s life will take place at St. Pius X Church.  Maura was devoted to rescuing cats, thus in lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in her memory to PAWS, 504 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851 or the CT Humane Society, 455 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880.
