Michael J. Siano, age 65, of Fairfield, passed away on October 10, 2023. He was born in Bridgeport on May 21, 1958, to the late Michael A. and Marie Rozmeski Siano.
Michael attended schools in Norwalk and after graduating from Brien McMahon High School, where he was a member of the varsity football team, he joined the Norwalk Fire Department. He retired as a captain in 2011. He fully embraced old school fire service traditions, and was proud to have served his community for nearly three decades.
Michael had many interests, and was passionate about horticulture; he liked to say he came from a long line of Siano men who could “make string grow.” He expanded on this innate talent with specialty course work at the New York Botanical Garden in the mid-1990s, and later returned to the institution to teach continuing education courses. During this time, he also established a landscape design business that served residential clients throughout Fairfield County for many years.
Michael met his wife Tracy in 1988, and they married in 1992. In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his sons Philip and Stuart, daughter-in-law Kayla, sisters Christine Restrepo (Luis) and Gina Orban (Steven), and several nieces and nephews, including Avery Restrepo and Griffin Restrepo. Also left to mourn his passing are the New York Yankees, who have lost their most steadfast and ardent fan.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Southport. Interment will follow in the Trinity Memorial Garden. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers friends may consider a contribution in Michael’s memory to Trinity Episcopal Church, 651 Pequot Ave., Southport, CT 06890. For information please visit www.SpearFuneralHome.com
