Michael E. May, age 64 of Fairfield, CT, died on March 6 peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Michael grew up in Rye, NY, the youngest child of James S. May, Sr. and Mary L. Barden. As a child, he loved music and acting, playing the guitar and mimicking early TV stars. After graduating from Resurrection School, Michael attended Iona Preparatory School, then studied literature and drama at Bard College. He transferred to the University of Denver and graduated with a BA in Theater in 1974. After college, Michael moved to Los Angeles, where his boyish good looks and easy-going manner landed him a wide range of acting roles. His favorite gig was playing a guitar-strumming cowboy on the TV soap opera "Texas." In the 1980s, Michael worked for Cablevision, where for many years he reviewed films on air and served as a field producer and show host; years later, he rejoined to manage education relations. In 1990, he earned his MA in Education from Fairfield University and taught English for 25 years at several public schools in the Norwalk area, working with students who had learning and social challenges. His students loved him. He was warm, generous, funny and insightful. He is survived by his beloved daughter Shannon May and her husband Toshiro Chiang; his brother Thomas May; three sisters Nancy May Tandy, Kay King, and Lori King; four nieces, three nephews; and his former wives Patty Sullivan and Tracy Zebrowski May. He was predeceased by his mother, his father, his brother James S. May, Jr., his stepbrother Peter King and his stepfather Norman E. King.
