Michael B. Murphy, age 53 of Fairfield beloved husband of Kimberly Kral Murphy and devoted father of Micaela and Shane Murphy passed away tragically Sunday, August 27, 2017. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Dr. Robert J. and Margaret Mary Murphy, Michael was raised in Huntington and had been a Fairfield resident for many years. He was a 1982 graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School, received his Bachelors degree from Marist College and an MBA from the University of New Haven. Michael was Vice President and General Manager of Alinabal in Milford. Mike was a member of the Gaelic American Club, the Patterson Club and the South Benson Marina. He served on the Board of Directors of Goodwill, the Gaelic American Club and the Connecticut Irish Open Scholarship Committee where he worked tirelessly chairing their Annual Irish Open Golf Tournament. Mike was a three-time recipient of the prestigious B.O.Y. Award. Mike had a tremendous love for music, especially Bruce Springsteen, the Red Sox, his family roots in Ireland, being on the golf course and celebrating any occasion with his family. He treasured his frequent trips to Ireland and spending time with his many friends. In addition to his loving wife Kim, and his children Micaela and Shane, he is survived by beloved brothers and sisters, Robert J. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Colleen of Lordship, Timothy F. Murphy of Stratford, Maura C. West and her husband Mark of Mequon, WI and Kathleen A. Dumouchel and her husband John of Walpole, MA; his loving in-laws, Richard F. and Vivian Kral of Bonita Springs, FL, formerly of Fairfield; two brothers-in-law, Richard F. Kral, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Greenwich and Christopher J. Kral and his wife Lisa of Fairfield and 22 beloved nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Prior calling hours have been omitted. In lieu of flowers contributions in Michael's memory may be made to the family of Chris Hughes. Chris was a dear friend who also died tragically in a boating accident. Michael, Kim, Micaela and Shane believed strongly in giving back to others.
