Mildred Bisacca passed away peacefully in her home that she loved on December 24, 2016. Mildred was 89 and the daughter of Samuel and Clara Della Donna and the sister of Arlyne and Anthony Della Donna all of whom predeceased her. For 67 years she was the faithful wife of George Bisacca who survives her. Mildred was a beautiful and positive person who radiated warmth and caring to all who knew her but especially to her large family to whom she dedicated her entire life. To her 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren she was affectionately known as "Meem." She was always involved in their lives and the biggest fan in their activities. Meem was a founding member of the Fairfield Prep and Notre Dame Girls High Mothers Clubs and gave generously of her time and support to many charitable organizations. Meem was also dedicated to her extended "family," which included many friends and the basketball players coached by her husband, all of whom affectionately referred to her as "Mrs. B" or "Mom." Meem was a legendary cook of incredible meals that she lovingly prepared each day for her children and on holidays for her entire family. Every inch of her dining room would bulge as she insisted that every member of the family be seated together. She also set the table for her husband's entire basketball team at season's end and for her many friends who eagerly accepted her invitation. Meem was also revered by the many Fairfield U. Jesuits who also enjoyed her hospitality. Her nurturing even extended to the birds and animals as well as the trees and plants that graced her property. She traveled all over Europe and even to China, with George and their NIT friends all of whom adored her. But, Meem's home was truly her castle. She filled it with beautiful artifacts all of which emanated good taste and incredible warmth creating an atmosphere that made everyone who entered comfortable and relaxed. Meem's life then was a life well lived, a lifetime of giving that we will miss. Meem is survived by her children, Beth Schrager and her husband, Harley, Mary DeVito, George Bisacca ,and his wife Bria, Barbara Lehn, Joan Casanova and Joseph Bisacca and his wife Kirsten; her grandchildren, Tony Schrager and his wife Carissa, Lois Goodner and her husband Blake, Danielle, Gabrielle and Briana DeVito, Talia Silvestro and her husband Anthony, David Lehn and his wife Ava, Benjamin, Samantha and Nicholas Lehn, Eva Casanova and Julian Bisacca; her great grandchildren, Henry and Clara Lehn, Everett Schrager, Harley, Shyla, and Colt Goodner, Dominick and Rosalie Silvestro.
