Nancy Kay Rowe Allen

Nancy Kay Rowe Allen, a longtime resident of Fairfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at the age of 89 at the Carolton Chronic Hospital in Fairfield. Born Nov. 19, 1927 in Glen Ridge, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Roger M. and Adele Marsh Rowe of Darien. She graduated from Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Mass., in 1945, and Katharine Gibbs School in New York City.

Nancy was employed by Cummings and Lockwood Law Firm and later as a realtor by Fairfield County Real Estate. As a homemaker, she involved herself in many volunteer organizations in the community. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fairfield. She was also a longtime member of the Representative Town Meeting and the Republican Town Committee in Fairfield. A true grassroots campaigner, Nancy spent countless volunteer hours educating voters and campaigning for many candidates in local and national elections. Nancy was a member of Black Rock Yacht Club in Bridgeport. She spent hours daily playing tennis at Tokeneke Club in Darien, and she was an avid bowler.

Nancy was devoted to her family. She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie A. (Taffy) Palenski of Nantucket, Mass., and four sons, Theodore F. Allen II of Marblehead, Mass., Timothy C. Allen of Clinton, N.J., Parker B. Allen of Fairfield, and James S. Allen of Fairfield. She was predeceased by her son Peter G. Allen. Nancy is also survived by twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, who all called her Nani.

Nancy is also survived by one sister, Patricia R. (Patsy) Badger of Arizona, and one brother, Roger M. (Skip) Rowe of Florida. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara R. (Bobbie) Conlin.

The Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Burial will be in the Noroton Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden in Darien.
