Nancy C. Beam

Nancy Beam, age 77, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late James E. Beam II, died peacefully in her sleep at her home on Friday, March 28, 2014. Born in December 1936, she was the only child of the late James Patrick Curnin, and Anna Oberg Curnin. She married the love of her life James in June 1957 and together they raised three sons. Nancy was a teacher specializing in early childhood development. She was the Director of the Fairfield YMCA nursery school for over 30 years. Nancy loved being around children and teaching and developing their young minds. It gave her great satisfaction and she was proud of her accomplishments as a teacher. Nancy was a member of the Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church. Throughout her time at the church, she served on several committees, was a counselor for the Methodist youth groups and also taught Sunday School. She and her husband Jim started and counseled The Christian Kids, a group of first and second graders. She was honored at a reception at the church for her work with the Sunday School. Nancy's family was the center of her life. She is survived by her three beloved sons, Jeffrey Morgan Beam of Shelton, Gregory James Beam of Fairfield, and James E. Beam III of Fairfield, two daughters in law, Barbara Hazay-Beam, and Geraldine Beam, and three grandchildren Nicole Beam, Krista Dicola, and Amanda Beam. Nancy's grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved and cherished every moment she spent with them. She is also survived by ten cousins. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 5 PM at Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church, 1089 Fairfield Woods Road Fairfield, CT. Interment will be private.
